Hi friends! I can’t believe it’s already August and school is starting up again! Summer went by way too fast. I wanted to share Sophia’s book nook with you all. I love putting out books for holidays and wanted to display “back to school” books on her book shelves to help prepare for preschool.
My oldest is starting preschool and I’ve been feeling all of the emotions this week! I’m excited for Sophia to be in a classroom environment, to make new friends, and to learn new concepts but it’s still hard for me to process that she’s not going to be with me 24/7. Any other moms feel this way when their first baby started preschool?
The “READ” letters are from my classroom, I got it a few years ago at Target.
The “First Day of School” flag I made at home. I printed out a free PDF download and pasted it on a ruler. I cut up gold stars and tied ribbon onto the ruler! You can get the free download here.
Most of these books were from my classroom library and some I bought on Amazon. There are so many fun “Back to School” reads out there and I want to buy a lot more to add to our collection! I plan to get a few each year before the school year starts.
Here are the books we have on our bookshelf that we love for toddlers:
The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson
Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes
Monsters Love School by Mike Austin
Biscuit Goes To School by Alyssa Satin Capucilli
Time For School, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff
The Wonderful Things You Will Be by Emily Winfield Martin
Time For School, Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle
First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg
I Am Human by Susan Verde
Oh, The Thinks You Can Think by Dr. Seuss
Do Unto Otters by Laurie Keller
The Night Before Preschool by Natasha Wing
My girls love picking out a few books to read before bedtime. If you’re a teacher, these books would be great to read to your class during the first week of school. I hope you’re enjoying these last few weeks of summer! Thanks for stopping by!
